Honda's Green Plans Hit Roadblock

Honda may not be the company having the highest CAFE overall average right now, which is the measure of every vehicle's mpg averaged out for an automotive company, but it is certainly putting its act together to be as green as possible when it comes to auto manufacturing.

Such is the case with Honda's Swindon plant. Many of you may know Honda's numerous efforts over the past few years to be as green as possible at its plant in Swindon. It has scaled back water, reused many resources, and it was planning to build 4 wind turbines at the site with help from the green energy company Ecotricity.

But now, a petition with 1 500 signatures against these turbines has been handed to the borough council in Swindon. They were presented by the campaign group III Wind whom was concerned over the visual impact of 120m tall high structures and the noise that they would bring to the area.

The council's planning committee will make a decision on Tuesday.

Honda believes these turbines will produce enough electricity and energy to power 5 300 homes each year.
